Choose a route deliberately
Review the official transition arrangement and compare it with any alternative you are considering. Ask the same questions about price, coverage, responsibilities, and sign-off for every route.
Pick an internal target before the service deadline
Give your team time to correct missing records and review imported balances. Work backward from an internal target date. Planning dates are assumptions, not vendor commitments.
Keep current work visible
A migration may overlap with a fundraise, a grant cycle, an audit, or employee exercises. Maintain a shared list of open events and agree where each event will be completed. A change freeze must not silently prevent time-sensitive activity.
